Nervous.

I am super excited yet nervous to start my new job.  I officially start April 5th soo exactly in one week! whoo whoo.  I have orientation sometime this week where I will find out my schedule, what to wear, what the classes will be like, what I will be doing on a normal day basis.  But I am deathly nervous I have been out of beauty school for about 3 years now and have been cutting only friends hair here and there.  I am grateful that I will be put through classes which will help in me going to take state boards.  For some reason I am at a lost of words today.  I am just day dreaming a ton and having a hard time focusing on anything. So I guess I will get catch you up with the weekend recap.

Weekend Recap:
Friday I worked just one job so that allowed me to sleep in and have a best friend day with Rachel! :)  We worked out, went to the bank, got new Pandora beads, and even did some window shopping at the mall. :)  I have had a gift card to get a new Pandora bead since Christmas but never found the time to go get myself a new bead.  Friday ended up being the perfect day for it.  Rachel and I walked in there and had the nicest lady help us pick out the best beads!  Rachel ended up buying herself a Pandora bracelet and the money bag bead since she just got a new job also.   I ended up getting another purple bead (to add to my all purple Pandora bracelet) which no one else has.  That's right I was the first one to ever buy this bead, well at that Pandora store.  We ended the day with working at apple mountain together and a wonderful dinner at Timbers with Rachel's boyfriend. (The above picture is my new purple bead that I bought. Isnt it beautiful? The picture below is Rachels little money bag charm. Both are too cute!)
Saturday I worked all day.  Rachel put in her two weeks the night before so our manager was not in the best mood and we had a creep come in and sit at the bar all afternoon soo that soon resulted in both Rachel and I getting crabby. Claude (the manager) ended up giving me the night off which I was excited about but Rachel still had to work and she had plans for later that night so I ended up working for Rachel and made pretty good money.  Which I was happy about and didn't end up staying that long so I made money and even got out early.
Sunday I had the day off!! whoo It was such a good day.  I started the day off with sleeping in until 9:40.  Which felt great after a long double the day before.  I went to church and then after church came home to a good cooked meal. (Roast, baked potatoes, carrots, and salad)  Then went to a movie with my other best friend, Jess.  We went and saw Red Riding Hood.  I was not really that excited to see it but I hadn't seen Jess in about two weeks so I wanted to see her.  It ended up being a really good movie and it was nice to catch up with her!  It was a great Sunday.
I had a really great weekend and also have a new pandora bead to show off. :)

Lord give me your eyes.

Looked down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight
Touched down on the cold black tar
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breathe in the familiar shock
Of confusion and chaos

All those people going somewhere
Why have I never cared?

Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so i can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity

Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach?
Give me your heart for the one's forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see

Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide what?s underneath
There?s a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
He's out of work he's buying time

All those people going somewhere
Why have I never cared?

Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so i can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity

Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach?
Give me your heart for the one's forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see

Two week notice.

Before I start I just wanted to say that I am really upset about this weather we had such a beautiful week last week and then this came.  This does not feel like spring to me at all.  Yesterday due to the horrible weather my boss was not able to come in so instead of telling him in person about my two weeks notice I had to do it through an email.  Which I was not to happy about but it had to be done!  So I wrote him an email and this is what it said:

Josh,

I thank you for the opportunity to work for Morley on the Hyundai Project.  I consider it to be an honor to have been chosen.  My time here has been very impactful.  I have strengthened my skills in customer service and the call center setting.  So I thank you.  I have been recently given the opportunity to use my educational background in a position that will begin the journey toward my career of choice.  This letter is to inform you of my transition in two weeks to Shapers Salon.  It is with great excitement that I take the next steps to advance my skills in cosmetology.  Again, I thank you for the opportunity to learn and grow in the Morley Companies.  With equally great joy and sorrow April 1, 2011 shall be my last day at Morley.

Thanks again,
Brooke Hazen

I still have no clue if he has received my email since he is not here again today.  BUT hopefully he is okay with the situation and I can enjoy my last few weeks being employed with Morley.

The best day ever!

Yesterday was such a good day I could not help but smile.  Let me tell you what happened.  But before I say anything it was all definitely a God thing!!! Praise the Lord!   Well I woke up around 6:40 to start getting ready for my first job (Morley) per usual, every Tuesday thing.  I went to Morley worked my 7 hours and came home.  I had about an hour and a half before I had to start heading in to Apple Mt.  I was sitting at the kitchen table talking to my mom and dad and probably eating something as well.  My mom mentioned that she saw a sign at Shapers salon saying that they were hiring for an assistant last week.  She forgot about it until Debby Glupker reminded her about it yesterday.  So my mom told me about the sign and said that I should go in there and apply for the job.  I left right after and headed straight for the salon!  I got there and the sign no longer said anything about an assistant position.  So I got a little discouraged, but still gave it a shot.  I walked in they gave me an application to fill out and then asked me if I had time for an interview today.  I immediately said yes and went into a room and had an on the spot interview.  I was sooo nervous.  The interview went really well and I GOT THE JOB!!!!  whoo whooo Thank you Jesus is all I could say as I was walking out to my car.  I was soo excited I quickly called my mom to tell her the good news and I was out of breath I could barely talk!  I will be starting April 4th as an assistant at Shapers Salon.  I am more than pumped! :)
So today at Morley I have to put in my two weeks.  I am super nervous to do this since I have never had to quit a job in my whole life.  But I know that I have a huge opportunity waiting for me and I can not wait to start my dream job!  I am trying to keep my apple mt job but I dont know if that will be possible.  We will see, but even if that doesn't work out I am soo excited to start this new chapter in my life! PRAISE THE LORD!  I thought it was so neat that just a couple days ago I wrote in my blog that he knows what my next car is going to be and he even knew that I was going to get this job before I even heard about the salon.  I serve an awesome God.

Trixie

She is just so cute I couldn't resist.

Its raining cats and dogs.

A couple days ago I received an email from my grandma with a couple history facts that I have never knew before.  It was the most interesting email that I have ever received from her.  Usually her emails are facts on how to clean stuff or a disease that might be in our family's blood and so on and so on.  But this one is a good one and I will have to tell her that I liked it so she will send me more interesting ones. hahha Don't be fooled I love all her emails just some I don't end up reading. Here are some of the new history facts from the 1500's that I never knew that I got from the email:
1. Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May, and they still smelled pretty good by June.... However, since they were starting to smell the brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odor.  Hence the custom today of carrying a bouquet when getting married.

2. Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water.  The man of the house got to go first, then all the sons and then the woman and the children and the babies were last.  By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it.

3. Houses had roofs made with thick straw piled high with no wood underneath it.  It was the only place for animals to get warm, so all the cats and other animals lived in the roof.  When it would rain it became slippery and sometimes the animals would fall off the roof.  That is where we get the saying it is raining cats and dogs.

4. Also in the 1500's they cooked in the kitchen with a big kettle that always hung over the fire.  Everyday they would light the fire and add things to the pot.  They ate mostly veggies and did not get that much meat.  They would eat the strew for dinner and leave the leftovers in the pot for the next day when they could just add more veggies to the pot.  This would allow some of the food to be in the pot for quite a while.  This is where we get the saying peas porridge hot peas porridge cold peas porridge in the pot nine days old.

5.  Bread was divided according to the status of people.  Workers got the burnt bottom of the loaf, the family got the middle and the guest always got the best part the top or the upper crust.

So there is my little history lesson.  I hope that I am not the only one that did not know these interesting facts.  Well I am off to paint my nails they are in dire need!  Sometimes I just love being a girl. :)

Sun please dont go away.

Today is just another Monday at the office.  After working all weekend I did not want to get out of my bed this morning.  Not to mention as soon as I walked into the office one of the ladies I worked with told me to enjoy this last day of sun for starting tomorrow it is suppose to be cold again. ugh No good.  I was definitely enjoying the wonderful warm weather, it was like a little tease of what is to come.

I am very proud of myself lately I have gone and worked out everyday for the past week!! whoo whoo I haven't skipped one day. Which is good for me for I have a hard time returning when I skip a day or two.  I have started working out with Rachel and it has been soo good for me.  Its nice to have someone to work out with that is on the same fitness level as I am.  Unlike Mel, when I work out with her I tend to over work myself just to keep up with that twig. lol  Last night Rachel and I made the schedule for the rest of the week and the only day we can not go together is Tuesday so that will be a nice day off.

I am also looking to buy a new car as soon as I find the perfect little VW bug for me.  I don't care what color it is as long as it is:
1. Automatic I can not drive a stick shift and I don't really want to learn to drive one either.  To much hassle in the city for me.
2. Between 3000-5000 dollars I work a lot but I can only afford so much. I do tend to get a loan out to pay for the car just to build credit, since I have no credit at all.  I recently just received my first credit card and I have had it for about a month and I am so scared to use it so it just sits in my wallet. lol
3. Clean Since the car is going to be new to me I would like it to smell and look clean on the inside and out.  Preferably no rust or body damage and not the awful smell of a smokers car.
Those are my three big things other than that I just want a cute little bug.  So far I have had no luck finding one at all I have told a couple people to help look and hopefully this post will inspire others to help as well hahha.  But all in good timing the Lord knows the plans he has for me even my next car!

This is my beautiful best friend Rachel who I am going to Florida with. :)

This is my crazy manager at Apple Mt. his name is Claude.

And last but not least this is a picture of Justin (rachels bf) Rachel, Me, and Mel.

I look sick in all of these but do keep in mind that I had already worked an eight hour shift at my first job and was really really tired. :/

HaPpY sT. pAtRiCkS dAy

I hope you all remembered to wear green!  Yesterday I had to go and buy a green shirt because I didn't even own one!! Plus tonight at Apple mt the dress code is any green shirt, as long as it is appropriate, with black pants.  Needless to say I went to 3 places just to find a cheap green shirt.  There is a reason I didn't own one before. hahah Who even likes green?  Why cant the St Patrick's day color be purple, or even yellow (that's close to green).  Did you know that the original color associated with St Patrick's day was BLUE?  Why couldn't it just have stayed that color?  Oh because everyone started wearing green ribbons and shamrocks in the 17th century.  And it soon caught on and became a fashion statement even to the Irish soldiers who wore full green uniforms in the 1798 rebellion.  So I guess through all these years it will stay green.  ugh  Well enough with the history back to the future.  I did end up finding a cheap green shirt at Kmart.  I bought one for me and my best friend Rachel who I will be working with all night tonight at Apple.  So we will be matching!! (and will have to take a picture)  Also tonight my hero (my mom) will be leaving me for a couple days. :(  She is going out of town and will not be returning until Saturday night!! whooo whooo I mean... ohhh darn what will I ever do?  Don't be fooled I will really miss her.  Did I mention she is my hero and cut my hair yesterday.  I looks the same hahah I only got an inch cut off and my layers a little shorter.  Tomorrow I am getting it colored and you will just have to be surprised because I am not saying what I am gonna get done.  But know that I am super excited about it.
I must say that I am not happy with myself lately, I haven't gone to the sport zone to work out all week.  That is not good.  I plan to go after my first job today since I get out a 3 but I have to be at my next job at 4:30.  So I don't know if that is going to work out.  Either way I need to get in the habit of going everyday or at least every other.  Summer is coming very quickly and that means I have to wear a bathing suit.  No one likes to see lumps in a bathing suit.  Also to help with that and punish myself for not going at all this week so far I am giving up sweets until April 1st. Tomorrow I must go after I get my hair done no questions about it.

Slow down please.

Where has the month of March gone!! I realized just yesterday that it is already March 16th.  That is crazy I feel like March just started and it should only be like March 7th.  For the past couple weeks I feel as if everything has been put in fast forward.  We lost an hour and its already March 16th. Holy Cannoli!  Before you know it, it will be summer and 70 degrees outside. whoo whoo I am feeling much better today and I think that this time change was the reason I got this horrible cold. Well that's what I am blaming it on. haha  Yesterday I worked a double, first at Morley and then finished the night off at Apple mt.  When I first walked into Apple I had no reservations at all soo I was a little discouraged for I need the money.  Not even after 10 min that I was there, a reservation called for ten people! That made my night for if that ten top didnt show up I would have had no tables and made no money.  Thank the Lord!! For the past couple weeks I have been very discouraged with going to work and working soo much.  But the last couple days I have been encouraged in the word and at work.
For Colossians 3:23-24 says:
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,
since you know that you will
receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."
Also last night when I was at Apple mt.  I was told that I was starting to get "shaddy" at doing my side work.(side work- chores that need to be done before you leave apple. Can involve: mopping, vaccuming, wiping down tables, ect.) So last night I was encouraged by this verse I just kept saying it over and over again.  Because it is soo true I am not working for Claude or Casey or my manager at Morley but for the Lord!  Since my attitude has been changed by this encouragement I find myself not dreading so much to go to work or being "shaddy" on my side work.  I still have a hard time waking up in the morning since I am not a morning person but I am reminded on my drive to work that I am working for the LORD! :)

Why? Because I love her!!

sick.

I had such a good time this weekend but then it ended on a Monday... ughh.  The last couple days on my weekend get away were not healthy.  I ended up getting this horrible cold.  My head was all congested, my nose was all stuffed up, and my throat felt horrible!  So yesterday (Monday) I slept all day, drank some vitamin water, and watched to movies with my mom.  Everyone was gone pretty much most of the day so it was nice and quiet at home except for little Trixie whining in the middle of my room.  She hates being alone too.  So Trixie and I ended up sleeping until about 2:30 when everyone started coming home; the kids from school and mom from her busy shopping day.  For the whole day my body felt weak and I could not get warm.  It was a horrible Monday.  But it ended okay.  My mom and I rented two movies: You Again and Megamind.  Both were very cute and funny.

Well enough about Monday, its Tuesday and time to move on.  I returned to work today, and let me tell you it is going by really really slow. I still don't feel that good my head still hurts but I cant sleep the whole week away. (Sometimes I think that would be nice)  Today I have to work both jobs which I am pretty excited about since I need the money. But before I head over to my second job there is somethings I need to do:
1. Buy another vitamin water
2: Take a nap
3: Go to the bank and take back the movies that were rented last night.
Hopefully I will have enough time and get better soon I hate this sick cold thing! :(

Weekend get away.

This weekend I got to pack up and leave for the whole weekend!! Let me tell you I have been looking forward to this weekend for such a loooongg time!!! With working two jobs this doesnt get to happen every often or even at all.  I wasnt suppose to leave until Friday morning since I had to work at apple Thursday night.  But I was only at apple mt for about an hour and a half and shot straight home, finished packing a couple of things and was on my way to Jackson!  As you can see I was a little anxious to get there.  When I pulled into Jackson last night I was sooo excited to see Preston and Stephanie again I could pee myself hahah.  The rest of the night was spent catching up, laughing a ton, and watching american idol. :D  I also got to see Leah and Jared for the first time in years.  It was soo good to see them I miss them soo much.  I am not sure of the rest of the plans for this weekend but whatever happens I am sure it will be a blast!  I will try to keep you all updated on this wonder weekend get away but I didnt bring my laptop so I cant promise anything.  And mom if you are reading this dont forget to feed my sweet baby, Ghepetto. (my fish)  I know I txt you this morning to remind you too but I just want to make sure he is still alive when I get home.  Like you said he holds the record. hahah
P.S. the picture is a picture of Stephanie and I a couple years ago in bible school.

Summer Goal.

This summer I plan to go to Florida with my best friend Rachel and maybe my other best friend Jess. (Wait can you have two best friends? well I do :)) lol I know for sure Rachel and I are planning to go but Jess might not be able to make it for she starts clinicals this summer... ugh no fun.  While our stay in Florida I plan on going to Sea World for the first time! This is where the summer goal kicks in.  Well in case you did not know whales are my favorite animals.  I LOVE them.  They are sooo big and beautiful.  Well this summer I thought that I would make my summer goal to pet a whale. Sea World is the only place that I can think of that you can pet a whale.
What a perfect opportunity for Rachel and I!!  Well in order to pet some whales you have to do some research.  So sitting at work this morning I went and checked out Sea World's website to see if you could really pet some whales or if I am just dreaming.  Well come to find out you actually can! But let me tell you it is not cheap. :(  First you have to buy a day pass into Sea World which about 71 dollars.  Then you have to pay another 99 dollars to spend time with a beluga whale.  So it looks to me that my summer goal has to be modified a little. Even though this will be a one in a life time chance I think I am going to have to pass on spending time with my one love.

So I modified my summer goal to go to Sea World and see whales and a Shamu show.  That will save me about 100 dollars and I still get to spend the day with these magnificent creatures just at a further distance.  I am beyond excited and I can not wait to tell Rachel all about this when she gets home from Costa Rica. I hope she is just as excited as I am! :)

Gnomes.

Last week I went with my best friend Rachel to go see Gnomeo and Juliet.  We asked others to join us but apparently they were way to mature for this movie.  So we ended up going just the two of us and ended up having a blast.  The movie was sooo cute.  By the time the movie was over we both wanted a little gnome for ourselves. haha  But as soon as we got in the car we began thinking... Where do you even buy gnomes?  The whole time we are having this conversation and talking about gnomes I could not help but think about Mickie Krish.  For Mickie and Steph used to live by this creepy guy that had gnomes all over his little yard.  So before I saw this movie I thought gnomes were the creepiest things ever and after I got home I wanted to see if there were gnomes out there that are as cute as the ones in this movie.  Come to find out they are all creepy and look like little trolls holding wheel barrows and flowers.  So if and when you see this movie do not be fooled and remember gnomes are not cute in real life.  As much as we would love them to be cute and sweet they are still ugly and scary. Over all the movie was really funny and we had a great time.

Girls Day!! :D

Today has been such a fun Monday so far.  I had the day totally off which was very nice.  I started it off with sleeping in a little but since I have to wake up early every day my eternal clock only allows me to sleep in to about 9:41.  Which I find very frustrating.  Anyways... I got to spend my whole morning with two lovely ladies.  Reese and my mother.  Around 10:30 I picked up Reese and we spent the morning drinking slurpees, (Reese a cherry one; me an apple coke one) painting our nails, and pestering Trixie.  Oh and we also took some very funny pictures.  Which was such a blast for me and I hope Reese had just as much fun.  We finished our date with a happy meal from McDonalds and a watermelon dumb dumb sucker (which Reese can have after her nap).
After I dropped Reese off my mom and I headed to Burger King where I had an ohh soo good Whopper Jr (heavy pickle no onion) and some fries.  I talked most of the time and was the only one that ate anything.  My mom said that there was nothing "good" to eat there, aka nothing healthy.  For the rest of the day I am going to spend relaxing at home and packing for my weekend get away (which I will be blogging about later).

More catching up.

Well to start off I went to the sport zone with mel yesterday and I got to try out my new shoes for the first time.  Praise the Lord they were wonderful!! I am so glad I went and ended up running about two miles and working a little bit on my abs I was so proud of myself.
Since I havent updated my blog for a very long time there is still stuff I need to catch everyone up on.  My life has been crazy busy... Here is a schedule of a week in the life of brooke (brace yourself).

Monday- I work at Morley from 8 to 3 the rest of the day is enjoyed cleaning my room, fish tank and doing laundry from the week before. Pretty relaxing day.
Tuesday thur Thursday- I work at Morley from 8 to 3 and then go home for an hour then go to Apple Mt from 4:30-? I could get out as early as 8 or could stay all the way to close which is around 10.
Friday- Friday is like mondays I only work one job and it is just Apple mt. I love fridays it is the only day I get to sleep in and do whatever I want until 4 when I need to go into work.
Saturday- Saturdays tend to be very long days I work a double at Apple Mt. Get there around 10:30/11ish and stay the whole   day.  Depending on how busy we are I can get out as early as 8 or have to stay all the way until 10.
Sunday- Tends to be my favorite day... Not only is it my only day off but I get to go to church and worship my Heavenly Father. I absolutely love sundays!!!
REPEAT!
As you can tell my life is pretty busy!! But I thank God everyday that he has given me the opportunity to be able to have and work two jobs!!! There are some people that dont even have a job at all and I am soo thankful to be able to have not just one but two. Thank you Jesus!! Plus I get to spend tons of time with my wonderful managers at Apple Mt. :)
For those of you that dont really know what I do at my two jobs I will give you just a brief run down. To start I have worked at apple since I was 16 I orginally started off to be a hostess and have made my way to a server position. Which by the way I LOVE!! Oh and did I happen to mention my best friend Rachel is also a server with me. :)  I also work at Morley which I am hired through Hyundai for a settlement that is going on. I sit by two lovely ladies Kelly and Breanne that keep me laughing and make the time go by faster.

Sport zone

My house is very close to a great gym called the sport zone I try to go there as much as I can but the last time I went there with my sister it was not a good time. I havent really worked out since I graduated from high school a little here and there with my friend Shannah at bible school but that was about it.  So mel and I decided we were going to go to the Sport Zone one day and run two miles. It was fine the whole time I didnt get one cramp at all, but when we stopped it was a different story.... I had a huge sharp pain in my stomach. I quickly demanded that we go home... I wanted my mom!!! hahah As soon as we got home I couldnt help it I started to cry and told my mom that it felt like my intestines were going to come out my butt!! everyone was laughing but me. :(
The cramp stayed in my stomach for another two hours.  Needless to say I havent been back but the other day I went shopping with my mother and got these fly new kicks. So now I have to go back and try them out, and hopefully they help keep the cramps away.

A little about life.

I havent been on here in a couple months now!! ugh what a great way to start my blog hahah So I guess I am going to update you on a couple things that have been going on.  Well about a couple weeks ago I was told that I have to put all my things in storage or to the road.  Let me tell you I was not happy.  I was bitter.  But now we have a wonderful family living in our basement again.  It was a pretty stressful move for everyone in my family as well it was to them to but now that it is over the bitterness is gone and there are somethings that I can be thankful for.
1. Cheap rent- I still have to pay 200 dollars to live up stairs but it is cheaper than living alone some where else. It allows me to save my money to hopefully get a new car this spring/summer.
2. Good cookin- I get to enjoy the wonderful dinners my mom makes me that are soo good and even get to pack that in my lunches sometimes. I hope become a good mom like she is one day.
3. Good laughs- I also get to enjoy laughing and the company of my family more than I did when I lived down stairs and I have come to realize that Jessie is soooo funny and most the time crabby hahha.

But there are also some down sides to the situation...
1. Storage- I have to pay for storage now to hold all my stuff since I did not want to get rid of it all. It is only 45 dollars so it is not that bad and its right down the road from the house if I ever need to go get anything out of it.
2. Friends- I dont really have friends come over anymore and that is more by my choice. I guess it was just much easier and more nice to have friends come over when I lived down stairs.  But like I said this is by choice.

Even though there are some good and bad things about the move I am really thankful that we have the opportunity to help out a family that is in need.  Its good to know that I forgiven for the bitterness I had during the process.  I am really glad they moved in even though I dont get to see them much it is still nice.
